A woman was arrested after she refused to feed her 3-year-old daughter because her partner did not give her any money. Guinerve Valentin,26, told police:"I don’t care, I know she is dying." Social workers found her daughter to be undernourished and had bruising on her body. They took the daughter and two other children aged four and five into care. The incident happened in the City of Tijuana, Baja California State, north-western Mexico. The family were already on the at risk register of the local centre for protection of children and family. The older children, all boys and aged , 4 and 5 were found to be in a good state. Social workers called authorities and officers from the Police Unit Against Domestic Violence arrested the woman. Valentin told police the main reason why she did not take care of her daughter was because she wanted a divorce and her husband did not give her any money. The mother is expected to be charged with neglect. A police spokesman said:" The mother has been arrested. All three children have been taken into care. The baby girl was not in good health but she is now being looked after by social workers." (ends)
